Call for Papers: Puppetry International #56: Women and Puppetry
Twenty years after our first issue on Women and Puppetry (2004), we are again bringing focus to this pressing theme. For issue #56 of Puppetry International, we seek brief articles (max. 2,000 words) that reveal lesser-known histories and investigate how the female is represented on puppetry stages around the
world. We understand women expansively to include Trans, cisgendered, queer, and female-identifying and seek articles with geographic and historical range. What histories and voices have been obscured or omitted over time? Who are the important innovators who have not received due credit because they are
women? How does puppetry represent women on stage, and in what ways does it reinforce or question hegemony?
